JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Thursday sought to showcase the Pink City as the information industry's newest hub in the country. The Capital ranked high in the overall city competitiveness index while the whole of Rajasthan was fit to become a major IT destination with its conducive law and order situation, basic infrastructure, availability of skilled personnel and better accessibility, she said. "The industry should not let go the enabling atmosphere in the State. We will be able to provide all the necessary infrastructure,'' Ms.Raje said in her inaugural address at a seminar on "Rajasthan: An IT destination'' organized by NASSCOM in which captains of the industry participated. "There is a vast scope here for the IT companies to expand,'' she explained. "My job is to see that Rajasthan touched the skies. No one can stop us,'' she said. Ms.Raje said Rajasthan was making plans for its surge in IT sector after learning from the experiences of other States. An IT-enabled governance would help to strengthen the people's faith in democracy, she noted. "There are no magic wands in a democracy. The disparities exist. We need to bring everyone on board,'' she said. Rajasthan's initiatives in the sector would in the public-private participation mode which would ensure the support of the industry, NGOs, the citizens and local communities, she said. Referring to the MoU signed between the State Government and the Microsoft Corporation of India the previous day in school education, Ms.Raje said a series of initiatives in the coming days would help Rajasthan to emerge on the country's IT map.
