Tying `rakhis' on WebWorld

LUCKNOW: Bridging the distance on Rakshabandhan, Reliance Infocomm has introduced a technology which would ensure that brothers and sisters living miles away can talk, see and perform the sacred ritual of tying `rakhis' live along with other members of their family.

All this is made possible at any Reliance Webworld outlets across the country as the company has introduced a novel scheme `Ab Raksha, no bandhan of distance' to facilitate meeting of brothers and sisters face-to-face through video-conferencing anywhere in India and even abroad.

Sundeep Saksena, Head of Reliance WebWorld (Uttar Pradesh Circle), said on Thursday that the company had launched this special scheme keeping in mind the difficulties faced by brothers and sisters in coming together on the Rakshabandhan day. ``All they will have to do is to fill an application form at any of 240 Reliance WebWorld across the country. The charges for this 10-minute family get together are only Rs 250 (taxes extra),'' he told a press conference here.

The scheme is open on August 19, 20 and 21.

Other than Lucknow, the facility is available at Reliance WebWorlds in Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Agra, Saharanpur, Meerut, Aligarh, Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and Dehradun in Uttaranchal.

Top-of-the-line digital technology system is being used in the video-conferencing through which one can be face-to-face with dear ones on a 4x6 foot screen on a 42-inch plasma screen.

Those living abroad can also avail of the facility in a price range of Rs 1200 to Rs 3,000 depending upon the country they reside. The company has tie-up in 40 countries. Reliance has 240 WebWorlds across 111 major cities in the country.

Reliance Infocomm, an Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Enterprises group company, is India's largest private information and communications services provider.

With a subscriber base of over 12 million, Reliance infocomm has established a pan-India, high-capacity, integrated wireless and wireline, convergent (voice, data and video) digital network, to offer services spanning the entire infocomm value chain. -- UNI
