Siddaramaiah to convene meeting on August 21

Staff Correspondent

HASSAN: Even as Janata Dal (Secular) President H.D. Deve Gowda has been asked by party leaders to take suitable action against the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramiah and two Ministers for breaching the party's discipline, Mr. Siddaramiah has convened a meeting on August 21, according to a letter written by him. The meeting is for his "well wishers", to seek their guidance while making decisions on the future of his political career.

In his letter dated August 12, Mr. Siddaramiah says he understood both the limitations and possibilities of "power politics" in his political career spanning three decades.

However, he has understood the limitations more clearly in recent days, he says.

Nevertheless, he is proud that certain communities, which have been sidelined in politics for decades, have now opened their eyes. However, along with the "political awareness" of such communities, there have been some "inhuman" political developments, he says.

Mr. Siddaramiah says in the letter that he has been victimised for having served with honesty and integrity during his tenure as Deputy Chief Minister and has been punished for no fault of his.

He says his actions will be decisive in his political life and sought the guidance of his well-wishers. He appealed to them to attend the meeting, which will be held on Sunday evening.
