Funds for energising pumpsets

BANGALORE: The State Government has agreed to release Rs. 173 crores to the Department of Energy for regularising power connections to 1.35 lakh irrigation pumpsets and Rs. 60 crores to provide new connections to pumpsets, Minister for Industries and Finance P.G.R Sindhia said on Wednesday.

Speaking to presspersons after holding a meeting with officials of the Energy and Public Works departments here, Mr. Sindhia said the Government has also agreed to invest Rs. 50 crores as equity in the recently established Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company, Mysore.

It has released Rs. 48 crores for upgrading four roads: Chandapura-Dommasandra road, Anekal-Meenakshi Temple road, Varthur-Attibele-Sarjapur road and Bannerghatta Road in Bangalore for easy movement along the information technology corridor, he said.

Many proposals are awaiting clearance from the Centre, he said. The State will sign a memorandum of understanding with the Airports Authority of India on September 5 to build an airport in Mysore. Work on the proposed airport at Hassan will also begin this year, he said.

Energy Minister H.D. Revanna was present.
