74 civic bodies reserved in State

State Government issues notifications on reservation; polls in September

HYDERABAD: The State Government issued notifications on Thursday specifying the reservation of the offices of chairpersons of 74 municipal councils and nagar panchayats and mayors of nine municipal corporations.

Elections will be held next month for 97 municipalities (out of 120) and 11 corporations (out of 14) in the State.

According to these notifications, five municipal corporations-- Nizamabad, Anantapur, Karimnagar, Kakinada(women) and Rajahmundry(women)-- have been reserved for the BCs, three-- Nellore, Vijayawada and Warangal for women(general category) and Eluru for SCs. Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Cuddapah, Kurnool and Hyderabad will be unreserved.

In respect of the municipalities, 39 have been reserved for BCs, 21 for women under the general quota, 12 for SCs and two for STs and 42 left unreserved.

The category-wise reservations in municipalities is follows:

Backward Classes (general): Nagari, Ramagundam, Miryalaguda, Guntakal, Alwal, Hindupur, Patancheru, Adilabad, Macherla, Bodhan, Gajuwaka, Rajendranagar, Nandyal, Rayachoti, Nuzivid, Piduguralla, Bhainsa, Vinukonda, Zaheerabad, Gaddiannaram, Kandukur, Markapur, Tirupati, Kavali, Ongole, Tadipatri.

Backward Classes (women): Guduru, Nidadavole, Palamner, Jammalamadugu, Kothagudem, Dhone, Rajampet, Sattenapalli, Pulivendula, Nirmal, Metpalli, Narasaraopet and Tenali.

Women (General): Itchapuram, Palasa Kasibugga, Pithapuram, Bhimunipatnam, Tuni, Narsapur, Peddpuram, Anakapalli, Mandapeta, Kovvuru, Samalkot, Pedana, Narayanapet, Chirala, Vikarabad, Siricilla, Proddutur, Parvathipuram, Srikalahasti, Khammam and Bhimavaram.

Scheduled Castes (general): Ponnur, Yellandu, Venkatagiri, Bapatla, Chittoor, Puttur, Bhongir and Ramachandrapuram (Medak),

Scheduled Castes (women): Repalle, Salur, Palacole and Ramachandrapuram.

Scheduled Tribes (general): Sattupalli and ST (women): Chilakaluripeta.

Unreserved municipalities: Gudivada, Vizianagaram, Tadepalligudem, Machilipatnam, Tanuku, Medak, Bobbili, Srikakulam, Amalapuram, Punganur, Siddipet, Mangalagiri, Amadalavalasa, Kadiri, Koratla, Jaggaiahpet, Bellampally, Adoni, Yemmiganur, Rayadurg, Madanapalle, Jagityal, Mancherial, Kamareddy, Sangareddy, Kagaznagar, Nalgonda, Malkajgiri, Tandur, Dharmavaram, Mahaboobnagar, Sadasivapet, Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Jangaon, L.B.Nagar, Serilingampalli, Uppalkalan, Kapra, Suryapet, Qutubullapur and Kukatpally.
