S.R. Ashok Kumar
Rajnikanth
CHENNAI: Superstar Rajnikanth has signed up his next movie. He will be working under the AVM banner. Film-maker Shanker is to direct the movie, which will be AVM's 168th venture in its 60th year of existence. It will be Rajnikant's 154th movie, and his ninth with the house of AVM. The yet-to-be named film is being jointly produced by M. Saravanan and M.S. Guhan. Incidentally, it will also be Shanker's ninth directorial venture - a fact that Rajnikanth did not miss and apparently, he has expressed his hope to Shanker that `Nine' would prove lucky for both of them.
Three months after the release of the blockbuster `Chandramukhi', there has been intense speculation on what would be the superstar's next film. There were reports that some producers were keen on signing up with Rajnikanth and in fact, there were guesses in media that he has already made up his mind. But on Friday, the cat was out of the bag. AVM Productions, which has so far made 166 films, announced last month that its 167th movie will have Ajith in the lead. Incidentally, Rajnikanth has done eight movies with AVM and the latest venture will be the ninth. It will bring Rajnikanth and Shanker together for the first time. Reports indicate that Shanker is busy doing the screenplay for the movie. The rest of the cast and technicians are being finalised.
