KADAPA: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Friday asked people of two remote villages -- Perlakunta and Marlabayalu -- in Penagalur mandal, situated in a reserve forest, to shift to Marellamadugu where alternative lands were offered to them. He distributed solar lamps among the villagers of Putlampalle in Cuddapah mandal. When they sought allotment of cultivable land in the reserve forest, Dr. Reddy asked them to come out of the forest area and improve their living conditions by accepting rehabilitation offered to them. Dr. Reddy unveiled `Kadapa' plaque officially changing the spelling of the district's name. He laid the foundation stone for a Rs. 1.24-crore water pipeline from Cuddapah Central Prison to the TTD kalyana mantapam and another Rs. 28-lakh pipeline from the jail to Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences at Putlampalle. He inaugurated Agri Green Fertilisers and Chemicals Pvt. Ltd, a private factory in Kadapa Industrial Estate. On arrival from Hyderabad at 3.30 p.m., the Chief Minister earlier inaugurated police staff quarters, including four for reserve sub-inspectors, built at a cost of Rs. 2.45 crores, on the APSP XI Battalion premises at Bhakrapet in Siddhavatam mandal. When Siddhavatam mandal president Nagarani sought allotment of houses for the poor, he promised allotment under the local MLA's quota. Accompanied by his wife Vijayalakshmi, daughter Sharmila and son Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, he left by helicopter to Pulivendula at 4.45 p.m. Zilla Parishad Chairman K. Suresh Babu; MLAs -- Md. Ahmedullah and K. Prabhavathamma -- A.P. Police Housing Corporation Chairman Srisailam Goud; Additional Director-General of Battalions Ch. Koteswara Rao; DIG (Battalions) Gopinath Reddy; Commandant of XI Battalion P.W. Vasantha Kumar; Rayalaseema IGP N. Sambasiva Rao and others took part.
