Stand autos fleecing public, says user group

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The Madras Auto Passengers Association has welcomed the Chief Minister's announcement to provide115 parking spaces for autorickshaws in the city.

However, they urged the Chief Minister to regulate the autos parked at various stands. The association also appealed to the Government to provide numbered slots at the stands so the autos will serve the public on a first come basis.

According to president Lakshmi Narain, autos parked at the stands tend to fleece and even tease women passengers.

He urged the Chief Minister to give priority for fixing meters that cannot be tampered in all autos and ensure they stick to the rates fixed by the Government.
