BIDAR: Manohar Narayan Marathe was unanimously elected to the lone vacant seat in the Chitaguppa Town Municipal Council in Humnabad taluk on Friday. The seat fell vacant after the incumbent resigned from the post and joined as a teacher in a government school. Elders and political leaders drew lots to decide the winner. They also agreed that other contestants should withdraw from the race and elections will not be held. Returning Officer Kashappa declared Mr. Marathe elected.
