THRISSUR: A group of writers, including M.N. Vijayan, Sarah Joseph, Vysakhan, Asokan Cheruvil and Ashtamurthy, on Saturday protested against the arrest and the police torture of the Yuvajanavedi activists who had launched an agitation in front of the Coca-Cola company at Plachimada on Monday last. In a joint statement here on Saturday, they described the agitation against Coca-Cola as another struggle for independence to protect the sovereign right of the people over drinking water and other natural resources. The statement demanded immediate release of the Yuvajanavedi activists who were arrested in connection with the agitation. The signatories included V.P. Vasudevan, Azad, Rafeeq Ahammed, P. Surendran P.J. James and V.V. Vijayakumar.
