Saba Firdaus sizzles

BANGALORE: Bellary District defeated Rangers HC 6-0 in the State women's league hockey tournament here on Saturday. Saba Firdaus top scored with four goals including a hat-trick. Saba scored in the 3rd, 27th, 38th and 52nd minutes. Sneha slotted the other two (16th and 58th).

Sports Hostel (Kudige) beat Bagalkot District 3-0 with Saira Bano scoring a brace. Bojamma scored the other goal.

In another match, Sports Authority of India (Madikere) beat Hassan District 3-0. Reshma (13th), Kruthika (15th) and Lekha (24th) found the target.

In the last match, Sports Hostel (Mysore) drubbed Jyothi Nivas College 8-0. Muniratnama scored three, Seema scored twice and Kaveriamma, Aruna and Impa scored one each.

Sunil Kumar shines

MYSOREMYSORE: A century by skipper and opening batsman Sunil Kumar Jain (113, 17x4s), helped Mysore Zone to pile up 340 in 89.2 overs against Dharwad Zone in their first innings on the first-day of their two-day Group `B' league encounter in the KSCA Inter-zonal under-19 cricket tournament played at the Gangotri Glades grounds here on Saturday.

In the other Group `B' tie at Mandya, Bangalore Zone skittled out Raichur for 148 in 52 overs.

The scores: At Mysore: Mysore Zone 340 in 89.2 overs ( Sunil Kumar Jain 113, Karthik Raghavan 52 not out, Raghavendra Kanchikeri four for 120) v Dharwad Zone.

At Mandya: Raichur Zone: 148 in 52 overs (Alok Deshpande 52, Rajesh Singh six for 38) v Bangalore Zone 190 for three in 36 overs (Nikhil Kashyap 73 not out, S. Prajwal 69 not out).

Facile win for Garner CC

MYSOREMYSORE: Garner CC registered a six-wicket win over Navajyothi CC in the KSCA Mysore Zone third division league encounter played at ther St. Philomena's College grounds here on Saturday.

The scores:

Navajyothi CC 117 in 36.4 overs (P. Yogesh 47, M.Chandrakumar four for 31) lost to Garner CC 119 for four in 12.5 overs (Om Guruprakash 43).
