BANGALORE: Two men, claiming to be gold and silver ornament polishers, cheated a housewife of a gold chain and a ring in Rajajinagar police station limits on Saturday. According to the police around 1.30 p.m. two men came to Shylaja's house in Prakashnagar and introduced themselves as gold and silver polishers. An unsuspecting Shylaja gave them a pair of silver anklets for polishing. After the two polished the anklets, she gave them her gold chain and ring, together worth Rs. 14,000. The two pretended to polish the ornaments and "put" them in a bowl of water. They asked Shylaja to add some turmeric powder to the water and boil it. After the two left, Shylaja, found that the duo had made away with her ornaments. On a complaint by Shylaja, the Rajajinagar police have registered a case.
Two commit suicide
Two persons committed suicide by hanging themselves in separate incidents on Friday. The police said Balaram Katri (30), an employee of a private factory and a resident of Challakere, hanged himself from a tree in a park at HRBR Layout. The Hennur police have registered a case. In the other incident, Kanthamma (55), widow of a police official, hanged herself from the ceiling fan at her house on Kodihalli Main Road in 3rd Stage, HAL. According to the police she was suffering from a liver ailment, the police said. The Jeevanbimanagar police have registered a case.
