Guard arrested
According to the police, the body of Maan Singh, a resident of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh who was employed as a security guard at a leather garment factory in Okhla, was found within the factory premises with his face and head smashed with an iron rod. Following investigations, the police tracked down the suspect, Jasbir Singh, also a security guard at the same factory. He was missing since the incident came to light. During interrogation, Jasbir told the police that the two were consuming liquor well past midnight on August 13 when an argument broke out between them over a petty issue. Soon, things came to fisticuffs and then Jasbir picked up an iron rod lying nearby and hit him repeatedly. He then locked the main gate of the factory and also escaped with some cash.
Pirated VCDs seized
According to the police, the accused, Chander Prakash Sharma, was arrested at his shop at Karawal Nagar in Gokulpuri on Friday. The police recovered 1,371 pirated VCDs, which included 165 pornographic VCDs. Chander Prakash told the police during interrogation that he began indulging in sale of pirated VCDs after he suffered losses in his electrical appliances business. He also revealed that one Naushad, who frequently visited his shop, used to deliver the pirated VCDs to him.
