Hidaya school celebrates Independence Day



FOR PEACE: Tasneem, a student of Hidaya Public School, Kozhikode, moving a motion on `Students for world peace' as part of the programme `International day of Afro-Asian unity' in the school.

Hidaya Public School, Pantheerankavu, Kozhikode celebrated Independence Day with various programmes.

The celebrations titled `Freedom festival' were kicked off as Sinan and Raula, both Std. I students released white pigeons in the air.

The `prime ministers' of the school, Abhay Gopal and Saheera, delivered the Independence Day message at the school parliament held at 9.30 a.m.

A motion `The world that suits children' was moved at the school parliament.

Srilakshmi, Sumayya and Priyanka, all students, led the discussions on the motion. Vincent, Nicola, Vikram and Hilda sang patriotic songs of various countries and planted saplings on the school compound as part of the programme, `International day of Afro-Asian unity'.

A resolution `students for world peace' was moved by a student, Tasneem, on the occasion. All present took the `Human Integrity Pledge' along with the African guests on the occasion.

The students also interacted, via the educational satellite, EDUSAT, with President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam by posing questions to the first citizen and exchanging Independence Day messages, School Principal P. K. Noushad said. Students presented various cultural programmes.

At PPMHSS

Independence Day was celebrated at the PPMHSS Kottukkara in Malappuram district with various programmes. School headmaster K. P. Ahamed hoisted the national flag and later inaugurated the function at the school seminar hall. Mr. Ahamed said that the present generation hardly understood the real spirit of the Independence Day. However, functions like this could help the students in understanding the true spirit of independence.
