HYDERABAD: Now filing Income Tax returns will not be a problem. All one has to do is approach the I-T help centre at Jawahar Nagar near RTC crossroads. It extends assistance in filing I-T returns, filling challan for tax payment and applications for permanent account number (PAN). The centre also advises on computation of income tax. Radha Srivastava, Commissioner, Income Tax, Hyderabad IV, who inaugurated the Help Centre on Sunday, urged the traders and other tax payers to make use of the free services. Forms and challans will be made available and an official would be present between 10.30 a.m to 1.30 p.m from Monday to Friday to assist the taxpayers, she said. J. Krishna Kishore, Additional Commissioner, Income Tax Range IV, outlined the role of taxpayers in combating the evils of poverty, unemployment and under development. During the financial year 2004-05, the IT Department earned about Rs. 1,38,000 crores as taxes. Of this a major chunk had gone back to the people by way of development of roads and infrastructure. C. Nanda Kumar, president, Chikkadpally Federation of Commerce, lauded the efforts of the IT department in coming forward to reach out to the taxpayers.
