HYDERABAD: The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Sunday urged the medical fraternity in Government hospitals to provide quality service to the poor. He stressed on the need to keep hospital premises clean. Dr. Reddy was speaking at the Sir Ronald Ross Institute of Tropical & Communicable Diseases, popularly known as Fever Hospital, after laying a foundation for a first-of-its-kind virology laboratory in the State on the campus. He said that there should no scope for corruption at any level in the medical institutions, adding that doctors, nurses and medical staff should be committed towards serving the poor. "We are here to listen the voice of the voiceless," he said.
Vacancies to be filled
Responding to a request by the Hospital Superintendent, K.N. Sudha Ramana, he said the Government had initiated steps to fill vacant posts of doctors and nurses in hospitals. All vacancies would be filled up soon, keeping budgetary constraints in view. The Minister for Finance and Health, K. Rosaiah, and the Principal Secretary, Health, I.V. Subba Rao, were present.
