Water level

MADURAI: The level in the Periyar dam stood at 131.8 ft, with an inflow of 204 cusecs and a discharge of 1,836 cusecs. The Vaigai dam level was 53.84 feet, with an inflow of 1,394 cusecs and a discharge of 800 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 7,136 mcft.

Anniversary celebration

The Residents' Welfare Association of Periyasamy Nagar, Tirupathi Nagar (Avaniapuram), celebrated its first anniversary here recently. P. Mohan, M.P., delivered the keynote address. A. Gurusamy, president of the association, presided over the function. Top rank holders in the X and XII standard examinations were honoured on the occasion. Schoolchildren performed cultural programmes.
