KOCHI: The Central Institute of Fisheries Technology has developed a fishing craft made of aluminium alloy, according to institute director K. Devadasan. P.M.A. Hakeem, secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, formally inaugurated the vessel on Saturday. The features of aluminium alloy such as lightweight, corrosion resistance, toughness and resilience make it a good material for construction of marine craft. The aluminium alloy vessel, without engine, costs around Rs.1.20 lakhs.
