Letters to the Editor
While Information & Broadcasting Minister Jaipal Reddy has charged the media with trivialisation, glamorisation and sensationalisation, the Supreme Court has issued notice to the Centre and the news media on a petition questioning the publication of titillating material in the name of freedom of expression. All this is bad news for the media. It shows that sensationalism is not welcome among the people. Publication of objectionable material dilutes the significance of the media and reflects their lack of social responsibility.
