Session can be extended till August 30
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
The Parliament session can be extended by two working days till August 30, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said here on Monday.
A final decision would be taken at the weekly Business Advisory Committee meeting on Wednesday, official sources said.
The Minister told reporters that important bills were pending and it would not be possible to clear them in the remaining two working days [for official business]. Thursday is for private members' business and there will be no session on Friday on account of Janmashtami.
Mr. Azad said that besides the National Rural Employment Guarantee Bill, there were the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Bill, the Hindu Succession (Amendment) Bill and three or four others, which the Government was keen on getting passed.
