ANANTAPUR: The expert committee on the safety of Penna Ahobilam Balancing Reservoir (PABR) in the district will visit the project on Tuesday to assess the dam safety position after completion of grouting work on the non-spillway bund. The engineer-in-chief (major irrigation) M.K. Rehman and the chief engineer of Central Designs Organisation I.S.N. Raju will inspect the project. Due to leakages from the non-spillway bund, the storage in the reservoir was allowed only up to 423 metres level against the full reservoir level of 444 metres. As a result, only 1.2 tmcft water is being stored in the reservoir against its full capacity of 11.1 tmcft.
