NEW DELHI: Activists of Delhi Medical Association, Janhastakshep, PUCL and PUDR held a demonstration here on Tuesday to protest against the arrest of two doctors, Qamru Zamman and Ajay, in West Champaran and Muzaffarpur districts of Bihar on the charge of attending to Nepali citizens, alleged to be Maoists. The protestors submitted a memorandum to the President seeking release of the doctors, demanding action against officials responsible for the misconduct. Stating that the incident had taken place on July 9, the protestors, who included Dr. Anoop Saraya, Ish Mishra and Anand Swaroop Verma, said it had brought the issue of the rights of the patients and the sworn responsibility of the doctors into focus.
