POLLACHI: Are you a busy parent hardly finding time to concentrate on your child's studies? Don't you have time to attend parent-teachers meetings? Don't worry. Here is a software that gives you a graph of your daughter/son's performance. The `student management system' is developed by the United States-based Globus Inc., run by Suhas Gopinath, a 19-year-old entrepreneur from Bangalore.
Short Message Service
The system will inform you through Short Message Service or e-mail whether your daughter/son has turned up for classes. Interacting with mediapersons after speaking at the `Meet the CEO programme' organised by the Training and Placement Cell and Student's Guild of Service (SGS) of the Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, here on Tuesday, the world's youngest CEO, Mr. Suhas, said that the software was installed in 100 schools in Nigeria and another 100 in the European countries. The software would carry a student's score and rank, comparison of it with his classmates and appraisals by the teacher. The report would portray capabilities of the student, his/her behaviour in the class and interaction with friends. Parents can look at the virtual mark sheet on the website itself.
Installation in five minutes
At present, the company was negotiating with the Ministry of Human Resource Development to introduce it in all the 870 Kendriya Vidyalaya schools across the country and in Mascow and Dubai. "We have developed a module based on the requirements of Kendriya Vidyalaya and they are evaluating it. Once they are satisfied, we will install the software in a phased manner. Installing the software needs just five minutes,'' said Mr. Suhas.
Subsidy for Govt. schools
After installing the software at Government schools, the company plans to sell it to private schools. According to Mr. Suhas, it will charge a subsidised Rs. 5,000 for Government schools and Rs. 30,000 for private schools. Addressing students, the second year B.E. student of a private college in Bangalore emphasised that engineering graduates should be job providers instead of job-seekers. His $5 million company is targeting a $20 million turnover this fiscal and is planning to list in the Newyork Stock Exchange. The company has offices in 11 countries.
