CHENNAI:
Actor-director S.J. Surya, against whom a city court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant, was arrested by the Nungambakkam Police on Tuesday. He was later produced before the XIV Metropolitan Magistrate and released on conditional bail.
XIV Metropolitan Magistrate Govindarajulu granted bail to Surya after imposing on him five conditions — that he should appear before the court whenever summoned, should extend full cooperation to investigation of the case, should file an affidavit explaining his absence in the court and should appear before the court every day till issuance of further orders. The film director is facing charges including assault on a woman official of the Censor Board and deterring a public servant from discharging duty.
