UDUPI: The Udupi district unit of the Students Federation of India (SFI) has called for a "Education Bandh" in the district on August 25 demanding a legislation by the Union Government to resolve the Common Entrance Test imbroglio. In a press release issued here, president of the district unit of SFI S. Kaviraj said the Supreme Court judgement will affect students from weaker sections of society. The Union Government should pass a legislation granting powers to the State Governments to control private educational institutions in this regard. The State Government should fill up vacant posts of lecturers. Basic infrastructure facilities should be provided in schools and colleges.
