Four held for rape

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Fort police have arrested four youths on the charge of kidnapping and raping a minor girl. Circle Inspector K.E. Sabu identified the accused as Praveen Kumar, 22, Ratheesh, 22, Pramod, 21 and Shinto, 24.

He said the accused had kidnapped the 16-year-old schoolgirl and sexually exploited her in different places in Kerala and Tamil Nadu for nearly four days this month. The accused were produced before the court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.

Woman missing

A 27-year-old woman who was housed at the Government-run Asha Bhavan in Poojappura was reported missing on Wednesday. The Poojappura police identified the missing person as Asha Jyothi.

Student dead

A ninth standard boy student, who was allegedly sexually victimised by a member of his school administration, was reported to have died at the Medical College hospital here. The Musuem police said they had received a complaint that the student had been sexually victimised. The boy was admitted last week at the MCH after he allegedly consumed poison. A case of unnatural death has been registered.

Sanyasin reported missing

A 50-year-old sanyasin attached to the Sivagiri Math was reported missing from the house in which he was staying at Ulloor in Medical College police station limits. The police identified the missing person as Swamy Preethathmananda. Circle Inspector K.E. Baiju said efforts were on to trace sanyasin who was reported missing on August 20.
