SURYAPET (NALGONDA): Student organisations and tribal unions continued their protest against the delay in arresting the correspondent of Siddartha High school Hanumantha Rao against whom a case was filed under the Prevention of Atrocities against SC, STs Act by the Atmakur (S) police. Alleging that the correspondent was responsible for the suicide of a ninth class student, Vankudothu Saidulu of Pipanaik thanda, the activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI) staged rasta roko on the national highway here on Wednesday. Earlier, hundreds of students took out a procession raising slogans against the accused person. According to the Atmakur (S) Sub Inspector Y. Sitaramaiah, the correspondent and the hostel warden Saleem and a teacher allegedly roughed up the student on August 10. Upset by the incident, Saidulu, the only son of his parents, ended his life by consuming poison at his fields on August 19. On the basis of a complaint lodged by the boy's father, V. Mangtha, the SI booked a case under the SC, ST Act against the trio on August 21 and referred the case to the DSP K. Ashok Reddy. The DSP told The Hindu on Thursday that the accused would be arrested.
