The idea behind the concept is getting diluted, says Justice Ramanujan

  • Amendment to the Lok Ayukta Act suggested
  • Counterparts in some States have `more powers'
  • People worried more over individual problems
  • Flooded with pleas on quacks in West Godavari

ELURU: Lok Ayukta Justice R. Ramanujan on Thursday sought more teeth to the Lok Ayukta institution so as to redress public grievances in an effective manner. Addressing a press conference here, the Lok Ayukta said that he sent a proposal to the Government two years ago suggesting an amendment to the Andhra Pradesh Lok Ayukta Act. He said that Lok Ayuktas in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala are enjoying more powers, which enabled them to solve public problems in a stipulated timeframe.
