JK Tyre National meet: fifth round on Aug. 28

CHENNAI: The fifth round of the seven-round JK Tyre National Racing Championship will be held at the MMST track at Sriperumbudur on August 28. The qualifying sessions will be held on August 27. Over 45 drivers in three categories — Formula LGB, Formula Maruti (FISSME) and Esteem — will be seen in action.

In the premium race category — Formula LGB — which has seen some of the best action so far, Ameya Walavalkar is ahead with 63 points. Rayomand Banajee and Sarosh Hataria are tied for the second place with 55 points each.

Fighting for honours in the Formula Maruti section are Kolkata's Amitrajit Ghosh of Team Valvoline, who is leading with 66 points. Rayomand Banajee (Pune) and Gaurav Dalal (Team Gabriel) are close on his heels with 58 and 57 points respectively.

In the Esteem category, Ayub Khan, with eight wins out of eight races, looks unbeatable with 87 points. K.E. Kumar (55 points) and Radha Selvaraj (44) follow Ayub in that order.

The Championship is being held under the aegis of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) and is a MAI approved event. — Special Correspondent
