NAGAPATTINAM: Narikurava children are being encouraged to join the bridge centres under the Sarva Siksha Abhyan (SSA) scheme for getting regular education in primary schools, said the Collector, J. Radhakrishnan. Inaugurating a bridge centre under the SSA at Natarajan Damayanthi higher Secondary School, here on Thursday, the Collector said that there were several Narikurava children in the district who needed encouragement in getting regular education from primary level. Mr. Radhakrishnan on Thursday admitted 11 Narikurava children in the bridge centre functioning at the Natarajan Damayanthi Higher Secondary School and distributed them books, notebooks and other stationery items. Besides, these children would be provided noon-meal at these centres. The Collector appealed to the Narikuravas to take initiative and put their children in the bridge centres. Mr. Radhakrishnan pointed out that continuous education would be provided to these children. The Collector said that free house site pattas would be given to the Narikuravas who send their children to the bridge centres and provide them primary education continuously for more than a month.
Self-help groups
to be started
Mr. Radhakrishnan pointed out that self-help groups would be started exclusively for Narikuravas and financial assistance would be given for starting their own business. The Collector appealed to the Narikuravas to send their children by dressing them neatly to the bridge centres.
