GULBARGA: D.N. Akki, historian and collector of manuscripts and artefacts, has been appointed district coordinator of the National Mission for Manuscripts under the Manuscript Survey Project to identify invaluable manuscripts in the district and document them. According to a press statement issued here on Wednesday, the State coordinator of the project, S. Subbaramani, has in a communication to the State Government in this regard, said that the survey of manuscripts in the State will be taken up from November 21 to 25 this year. The release said that the National Mission for Manuscripts has appointed two district coordinators, one from the official side and other from the academic sphere for the survey. The duties of the district coordinators will be to gather information about the manuscript collection in the districts, appoint 50 surveyors in each district and train them. Mr. Akki, winner of the National Best Teacher Award, is presently working at the Government Pre-University College at Gogi in Shahapur taluk of Gulbarga district. The first meeting of the district coordinators will be held in Bangalore on November 3 to finalise the survey work.
