SALEM: The MLA of the Salem - II Assembly segment, M. Karthi, has urged the Estimate Committee of Tamil Nadu Assembly to recommend to the State Government for reviving the Kurumbapatti Zoological Park at the Shevaroyan foothills. He submitted a petition in this regard to Committee Chairman P.H. Paul Manoj Pandiyan here at a review meeting on Wednesday. The park was not maintained well due to inadequate funds.
Road project
Mr. Karthi also requested the committee to ensure the implementation of a bypass road project designed to connect the National Highway- 7 and the Attur-Chennai Main Road. Leader of the Opposition in the Salem Corporation, S.D. Kalaiamudan (DMK), appealed to the committee to initiate steps for speedy implementation of the second phase of the Tirumanimutharu project.
DMK demand
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam members staged a demonstration in front of the Salem Collectorate demanding the execution of the second phase of the project. City secretary G.K. Subhash led the protest.
