Aziz Khan gets one-year extension
Diplomatic Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
Pakistan's High Commissioner to India, Aziz Ahmed Khan, has been granted a one-year extension in his tenure that was to end on September 15, a High Commission official said on Thursday.
Mr. Khan, who took up the post here in 2003, was on a two-year contract after retiring from the Foreign Service. He had also served as Pakistan's envoy to Afghanistan. The High Commissioner's term will now end in September 2006.
He arrived on the scene during tense times in 2002 when troops were mobilised by both countries.
Since the return of High Commissioners to India and Pakistan, the relationship has stabilised and shown steady improvement.
