KOZHIKODE: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) State president K. Surendran has said the morcha will organise protest against the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Smart City project if the Government did not disclose its full details. He said that the morcha would observe the day on which the Government planned to sign the MoU as `black day' as a mark of protest. Mr. Surendran was of the view that the MoU that had been approved by the State Cabinet was in effect the final accord on the project. ``It does not safeguard the interest of the youth. This is just a cover for a multi-crore real estate racket,'' the morcha leader alleged at a press conference. He said that rumours were spread to create the impression that the project would generate 35,000 jobs; but there was no mention of the volume of employment it would generate in the MoU approved by thw Cabinet. ``Contrary to initial estimates, which had said the project would attract investment worth Rs.1,500 crores, even investment worth Rs.700 crores had not been ensured,'' he said.
