GORAKHPUR: Twenty-eight more cases of suspected Japanese encephalitis were reported from various districts of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.The toll due to the fatal brain fever was 185, Additional Director, State health services, D. P. Mishra said. He said Maharajganj and Kushinagar districts remained worst affected from where 235 patients were so far admitted to the BRD Medical College here. Among others admitted in the hospital, 200 were children, he said adding on an average 40-50 patients were being admitted everyday. Dr. Mishra said some of the private hospitals were also extending their services as it was being difficult to cope with heavy inflow of patients everyday. The Chief Medical officer of the hospital, S. Chakravarty, said doctors engaged in the ongoing Panchayat elections in the state have been called back to the hospital. PTI
