THIRUVANANTHAPUARM: The third Major Dhyan Chand Memorial South India inter-collegiate hockey tournament will be held at the LNCPE College hockey field from August 27 to 29. Ten teams including the defending champion YMCA College of Physical Education, Chennai and the runner-up Faculty of Arts and Education, Annamalai University will take part in the three-day tournament that is organised as part of the National Sports Day celebrations. The other teams taking part in the tournament are LNCPE (Thiruvananthapuram), University College (Thiruvananthapuram), Fatima Mata National College (Kollam), St.Joseph's College (Tiruchi), Jamal Mohammed College (Tiruchi), PSG College of Arts and Science (Coimbatore) and St. John's College (Palayamkottai). University College, Thiruvananthapuram will meet host LNCPE in the opening match of the tournament that will be played on a knock-out basis. The semifinals will be played on August 28 and the final on August 29. The Kerala Sports Council President C. Mohanachandran will inaugurate the tournament. The LNCPE will also organise a mass run on August 29 as part of National Sports Day celebrations. . Sports Reporter
