KARIMNAGAR: Suspected naxalites belonging to the CPI-ML Janashakti group reportedly abducted an employee of a contractor working at the SRSP flood flow canal for ransom in Sarvapur village of Mallial mandal in the early hours of Friday. Reports reaching here said that four armed naxalites went to the SRSP flood flow canal work camp office, which is located between Sarvapur and Kothapalli villages, and asked the work inspector, Dheeraj Reddy (35), son of a retired SE, Surender Reddy and employee of a contractor, to accompany them as they had decided to kidnap him. They took him away in his own Bolero vehicle. The naxalites also told the employee to inform their contractor to pay a ransom of Rs. 50 lakhs for his release from their captivity. It is learnt that the contractor had agreed to pay Rs. 15 lakhs for his release, but the naxalites have rejected the offer.
