KARIMNAGAR: Unprecedented security arrangements by the Karimnagar district police for Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy's Rajiv Nagara Baata in the town on Thursday caused problems to the people of the town and some embarrassment to the Congress leaders. Deployment of additional police forces since Wednesday evening at all places in the town and thorough checking of the routes and people by the police personnel, had forced several people to remain indoors without coming out to greet the Chief Minister. Even barricading and closure of some shops on the busy routes had restricted the entry of people on to the roads. On several occasions, the Chief Minister instructed the police rope parties not to restrict people at the barricades and allow them to approach his convoy. Congress ticket aspirants, who planned mobilisation of public on a massive scale, shelved their plans following the police restrictions in the town.
Pat for civic officials
He appreciated Karimnagar Municipal Corporation authorities for launching the ambitious `Upadhi' scheme of providing self-employment training and employment to the unemployed youth in the town. He said that out of a total of 530 youth trained, 410 youth were employed in various institutions.
