People in Karimnagar turn up turn up in large numbers for Rajiv Nagara Bata programme

    KARIMNAGAR: The Chief Minister Y. S. Rajashekhara Reddy has formally kicked off the party's election campaign for the ensuing municipal elections in the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation by participating in the Rajiv Nagara Bata programme on Thursday.

    Mr. Reddy was accorded a warm reception in Karimnagar town during his Nagara Bata programme in various parts of the town. People lined up on the either side of the roads and climbed the rooftops of buildings and commercial complexes and greeted the Chief Minister. Women outnumbered men at the meetings and interacted with the Chief Minister.

    As soon as the Chief Minister's convoy crossed the SRR Degree College premises in the town, the students of Orchard School greeted Mr. Reddy. At Ashoknagar locality also students lined up on the either side of the road and welcomed the Chief Minister.

    At an interaction programme at Naka crossroads, a Muslim woman was all praise for the Chief Minister for introducing five per cent reservations to the Muslim minorities. Mr. Reddy announced a special package of Rs 45 lakh for the development of Rajiv nagar near Ashok nagar locality. After seeing good turn out at the busy Tower circle area, the Chief Minister along with the Minister for Sports, M Satyanarayana Rao have addressed the gathering from the roof top of the Nagara baata bus and enthralled the people.

    At majority of the places, women urged the Chief Minister to allot house sites. The CPI and INTUC workers carried placards and party flags demanding house sites to beedi workers.

    The Chief Minister reiterated that his Government would provide house sites to all eligible persons, construct individual sanitary latrines and provide drinking water connections to each and every house in the State.

    With regard to the DSC-2002 candidates, he said that the Government would take a decision about the regularisation of the candidates at the earliest. He unveiled the Rajiv gruha kalpa pylon, he aslo participating in the garlanding of statues of Ambedkar, Babu Jagjivan Ram, Rajiv Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi. The Chief Minister also participated in the inauguration of Open university regional coordination centre, vermi-compost sheds, swimming pool, sports academies at the stadium and also the first floor building of press club.
