THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The doctors who participated in the strike on Thursday will not get any pay for the day as the Government has applied the dies non, the `no-work-no-pay' principle, on them. Health Minister K.K. Ramachandran said in a press note here on Thursday that the Government was also keeping a close watch on their next step. He stated that the strike was partial and did not affect the functioning of hospitals seriously. He disclosed that the strike was organised and the patients were put to misery without giving any notice to the Government. He dubbed as injustice of the worst kind the denial of treatment to the poor patients who came to the Government hospitals and the treating of the affluent who went to the doctors homes with fees. The people themselves would react if the doctors continued the practice, he added. Referring to the issue, Mr. Ramachandran stated that a case was registered immediately on the basis of the doctor's complaint. The Government had also referred the matter to the District Collector for an inquiry. The Collector had reported that he had not been able to find out actually what transpired and had recommended the continuance of the police investigation.
