SINGAPORE: Indonesia and West Bengal on Thursday affirmed their political will to strengthen bilateral economic ties and stimulate investments in each other's domain on a reciprocal basis. Even as the West Bengal Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, met the Indonesian Vice-President, Jusuf Kalla, and the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Aburizal Bakrie, in Jakarta to give a political thrust to the economic engagement between the two sides, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Thursday night for the establishment of an industrial/economic zone in Kolkata. Mr. Bhattacharjee, who witnessed the signing, said the MoU would open up new avenues for economic cooperation between the two sides.
