GUNTUR: The Government issued an Order officially declaring reservation in the Municipal Corporation and the Guntur Municipal Corporation will have only 19 unreserved divisions out of the 52 and the remaining are reserved for some category or the other. Eighteen divisions have been reserved for women under different categories. The total number of electorate is 3,26,816 for whom 267 polling stations have been identified. The GMC received a record number of 15,000 applications in Form-6 for inclusion of name as voter and the verification was being done by the Revenue Department to complete it within three days. While 17 divisions are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes, five have been reserved for the Scheduled Castes including two for SC Women (24, 48, 49 and 9 & 27). The Backward Classes women have been allotted six divisions (12, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 33) while 11 divisions (2, 5, 7, 16, 19, 28, 36, 42, 43, 45 and 50) have been designated as BC (General). Ten divisions have been reserved for women (General - 4,6,11,18,29,30,38,39,41 and 52), while only 19 divisions are unreserved (1, 3, 8, 10, 13, 22, 23, 25, 26, 31, 32, 34, 35, 37, 40, 44, 46, 47, and 51). Coming to the 11 municipalities in Guntur district, Mangalagiri is the only unreserved one for Chairman's post and out of the 32 wards, 21 have been reserved (ST general-3, SC -23, 28, SC Women-15, BC general- 4,9,14,16,17,18 and 24; BC women-5, 10, 25, 26; Women general - 2,6,7,11,13, and 27; the remaining are unreserved, according to a notification issued by the district Collector, G. Jayalakshmi. Out of 26 wards in Sattenapalli, 18 are reserved under different categories ST general-1; SC general-2; SC women-1; BC general-6; BC women-3; Women general-5.
Tenali municipality
In Tenali, a Special Grade Municipality, out of 40 wards 27 are reserved including 15 for women. Repalle has 28 wards of which 20 are reserved including 11 for women. In Ponnur out of 31 wards 22 are reserved including 12 for women. Second Grade Municipality Bapatla has 34 wards with 23 reserved (12 women). The Grade One Narsaraopet municipality has 34 with 21 reserved including 12 women. The newly formed Vinukonda has 26 wards 17 are reserved with nine among them for women. Macherla has 29 wards with 19 reserved. Piduguralla the other new municipality has 20 wards with 14 reserved seats including 7 for women under various categories. Chilakaluripet, where the chairperson is reserved for the ST, the total number of wards is 34 with 23 reserved wards including 13 for women.
