CHENNAI: Engineering in Australia offers exciting careers in traditional fields such as structural and chemical to disciplines like space and bio-medical. According to figures released by the Graduate Careers Council of Australia, graduating engineers are highly sought after and well paid. For Indian students who want to pursue engineering programmes in Australia , the universities have announced the following scholarships: For those interested in a Bachelor of Engineering, University of Technology Sydney offers a 50 per cent tuition fee waiver scholarship, specifically for outstanding female students who have completed Std. XII from CBSE/ISC board. The University of New South Wales offers a full fee scholarship for pursuing any B.E. degree and this is open for male students as well. At the Masters level, full fee waiver scholarships is offered by Charles Darwin University for coursework program and combined degrees. The University of Melbourne offers a 25 per cent tuition fee waiver for Masters by coursework, while Queensland University of Technology offers A$4,000 merit scholarships. Students intending to apply for these must have a first class with distinction in their bachelor degree and good English proficiency. The representatives of the universities will be in Chennai on August 28 for an education fair at Hotel Taj Coromandel.
