Deliberate misrepresentation, says Somnath
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Thursday took exception to a newspaper headline, "Mind your job, Speaker tells judiciary," and said the "deliberate misrepresentation'' of what was said in the House by the Chair on Wednesday amounted to a breach of privilege.
Making a suo motu observation as soon as the House assembled, Mr. Chatterjee said: "I once again, if necessary at all, express my highest respect for the judiciary. To try and make misrepresentation of what transpired in the House is nothing but a breach of privilege. Naturally, it will not be taken lightly in future."
Mr. Chatterjee said nothing of the sort happened during Wednesday's impromptu discussion. "I do not have to learn from others how to pay respect."
