BANGALORE: It is all about social justice and not just in words. A three-day South India convention of community-based organisations and self-help groups is to be held here during the last week of September. Delegates will come from all the southern States. Briefing presspersons at the end of a two-day cultural mela of Dalits, Adivasis and minorities which concluded here on Thursday, representatives of Nyaya Sangamam said the convention will focus on major issues challenging the growth and sustenance of grassroots level organisations.
Networking
The delegates will deliberate on strengthening the Nyaya Sangamam process of networking of organisations and evolving effective ways of protecting the rights of the less privileged sections of society.Nyaya Sangamam is a confederation of grassroots level people's organisations facilitated by NESA (New Entity for Social Action). The sangamam is considered especially relevant at a time when the policies of the Union and State governments are focused on bringing the rural unemployed and poor under a social security net. Nyaya Sangamam was established in 2000 and now actively supports several organisations in Karnataka. The organisations supported work for socio-political economic self-sustenance through activities considered most suited to local community situations and needs.
