VUDA told not to sell land meant for high school

HYDERABAD:
Justice E. Dharma Rao of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday restrained the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority from selling plots in Rishikonda layout carved out of the area meant for a high school. The auction has been slated for Sunday.
The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by Satyanarayana and another person. The petitioners said that as per the approved zonal development plan for the Rishikonda layout, areas and sites have been earmarked for a religious place, high school and fire station. They complained that without altering the plan VUDA had given away the site earmarked for religious place. They said that out of 20 plots put up for auction on Sunday five are carved out of the place earmarked for the high school.
