Court directive to Government

Legal Correspondent

HYDERABAD: A division bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday directed the Government to file a report regarding the claim made by the Commissioner of Civil Supplies that steps were being taken to see that poorer sections did not face hardship while filling the English format application for ration cards.

The bench comprising B. Sudershan Reddy and C.V. Ramulu was admitting a writ petition complaining that the poor people of the State were being asked to fill a two-page questionnaire in English and this was causing undue hardship.

The writ petition was filed by C. Dharma Rao representing Telugu Bhashodyama Samakhya and J.S.R.K. Sharma of Telugu Basha Vikasa Udyamam.
