Protest against ban on salt

KOCHI: The Yuvajana Vedi organised a `salt-making agitation' in Fort Kochi on Thursday to protest against the ban imposed by the Union Government on non-iodised salt. The Vedi activists boiled sea water in earthen pots on Fort Kochi beach to symbolically make common salt. The agitation was inaugurated by Charles George, CPI(ML) district secretary. Yuvajana Vedi State president P.S. Rajagopalan said an all-India convention would be held on the Kozhikode beach on September 20.
