KOCHI: The Perumbalam Boat Passengers Association has requested the authorities concerned to resume private boat service on the Perumbalam Irappuzha-South Paravur route. In a statement issued here on Thursday, association chairman K.R. Rajesh and convener K.B. Rajesh said the boat service had been stopped following a strike by private buses. Passengers were forced to depend on country boats in the backwaters. The State Water Transport Department (SWTD) has been conducting trial runs on the route for ferry and circular services, but the service has not yet started. The trial runs were conducted three times.
