Quiz on maps for students

GeoMap Society is organising a quiz for high school students to encourage them to understand maps and map application in various fields. The preliminary quiz will be held on September 17 at their schools.

Finals will be conducted on October 22. Further details of the contest can be had over the phone Nos. 55667333 and 55667776, according to a press release.

Management schools' meet

The Association of Indian Management Schools will hold its 17th annual convention with the theme "management 2025 - new paradigms for India's competitiveness" in the city from August 28 to 30.

The three-day convention will comprise plenary, technical and general sessions.

Academics, corporate executives and noted regulators have been invited to participate in the plenary, according to the association president and ICFAI university Vice-Chancellor, V. Panduranga Rao.

Bank extension counter opened

The Chairman and Managing Director of Andhra Bank, K. Ramakrishnan, has opened an extension counter of the bank at the Indo-American Cancer Institute on Thursday.

He also announced a contribution of Rs. 50 lakhs for the institute while pointing out that it was one of the premier institutes in the country providing super speciality services to the poor and the needy.

The Chairman of the Cancer Institute, K. Siva Prasada Rao, was present, accoarding to a press release.

Memorial lecture

The sixth Professor S. Bashiruddin memorial lecture will be delivered by Sanjaya Baru, Media Advisor to the Prime Minister on `Going Global - Indian Media in a Multi-Polar World' at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) on Friday at 6 p.m. The lecture is organised by Prof. S. Bashiruddin Memorial Committee, a press release said.

Course in nursery

The Princess Esin Women's Educational Trust, Purani Haveli, will launch a two-year graduate course in nursery school teacher education.

Rafath Hussain, its director, has said in a press release that the course is recognised by the State and national councils for teacher education.

Award for principal

K. Anthonamma, principal, St. Ann's College for Women, Mehdipatnam, has been awarded with the Ambassador for Peace by the Inter Religious and International Federation for World Peace for dedicating herself to inter religious cooperation and working for a culture of peace, according to a press release.
